Exercising Agency


It’s the new year, so most people are thinking about introducing some sort of positive habits. One behavioural change that most people would like to make would be to become someone who has “high agency”. As per the definition, high agency is a mindset that involves taking charge of your life and actions, and being responsible for your own outcomes.

One major impediment towards getting stuff done has been the general wastage of time. Yes, social media is a highly oiled distraction machine, but so is adulting, socializing and a million other disruptions in modern life. To tackle this, I’m going back to a physical to-do list. A simple list of 5-8 items which are my priority for the day. If I’m able to tick off the list, I’ve won that day.
